Which produces more CO2? Volcanoes or human activity?

ACCORDING TO THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, HUMAN ACTIVITY PRODUCES OVER 150 TIMES MORE CO2 THEN ALL VOLCANIC ACTIVITY COMBINED!

Comparison of CO2 emissions from volcanoes vs. human activities.

Scientists have calculated that volcanoes emit between about 130-230 million tonnes (145-255 million tons) of CO2 into the atmosphere every year (Gerlach, 1999, 1992). This estimate includes both subaerial and submarine volcanoes, about in equal amounts. Emissions of CO2 by human activities, including fossil fuel burning, cement production, and gas flaring, amount to about 22 billion tonnes per year (24 billion tons) [ ( Marland, et al., 1998) - The reference gives the amount of released carbon (C), rather than CO2.]. Human activities release more than 150 times the amount of CO2 emitted by volcanoes--the equivalent of nearly 17,000 additional volcanoes like Kilauea (Kilauea emits about 13.2 million tonnes/year)!

Which produces more CO2? Volcanoes or human activity?
you asked and then answered your own question....get a life.
Reply:Volcanoes do. Also, animal manure does too. Animal waste accounts for 18% of green house gases whereas human activity accounts for only 14%.
Reply:You're right. When Mount Pinetubo exploded in the early 1990s it actually helped cool the planet down a little bit because it blocked out the sun. But man spews billions of tons of co2 into the air every year. And, billions more are going to be spewed because new coal burning plants are being built in the U.S (Texas), China and parts of eastern Europe despite the calls to cut emissions.
Reply:And when major eruptions occur, the CO2 output is equal to that of human degree. Let's also put in the fact that the world's temperature decreased after Pinatubo erupted (and Pinatubo was freaking huge, trust me on this one); what does this tell you about Global "Warming"? Enough CO2 in the atmosphere and you'll have a slight decrease in temperature. Funny that...

Oh, and BTW, 47% of statistics like these are made up right on the spot... just a little reminder that not all stats are true, like this one...
Reply:Gee. I was curious what the answer was. I didn't expect that you'd answer it too.
Reply:remember the apples and oranges?

From a moral, cerebral standpoint, the volcano does not think, humans do. It is useless to count the potential methane content emitted by cattle farts or fissures of the earth crust. When we belch bus bombs at every city corner. We, conscious animals pollute our neighbors backyards with runoff from motorized toys, energy usage and conveniences that end up destroying whatever surroundings we claim to care about.

Scientific language aside, we are ruining our own nature for the will to enjoy this life of ours, under any circumstances.

Even if it kills us slowly. Time to drop the blinders, this is not a conspiracy, folks!

Every action has a separate but equal reaction. i did not invent this law of physics just to irritate, Every action, every car driven today, every object bought today, it is simple, do less, enjoy more, thank you, and watch volcanoes on television if you must.
Reply:5quid - the fact that you have done some research into Mt Pinatubo's eruption makes it all the more surprising that you would misrepresent it so badly.

The drop in temperature as a result of Mt Pinatubo's eruption was in no way related to CO2 output.

Billions of tons of ash were blown into the stratosphere. These produce a cloud like barrier for the sun leading to a temporary cooling.

Your argument in no way changes any arguments regarding greenhouse gasses and global warming.
Reply:man does,the volcano's are just once in a while occurrences,also only some volcano's %26lt;super volcano's%26gt;produce levels of c-02 that is equal to 1-years worth of mans production%26lt;supposedly%26gt;
