Geography True or False?

1- we can obtain accurate information about groundwater flowpaths from examining the drill records for domestic wells

2-within the ORM, the Halton Till deposits forms significant aquifers because of the high porosity

3- 3D mapping of the sedimentary facies can yeild useful information about the geology of a moraine, but modelling the aquifer requires only detailed water bealance data from a climate station

4-through the work of the geological survey of canada, canada has conducted comperehnsive groundwater surveys covering the last 25 years, a research program much shorter and less extensive than the RASA program mounted in the US

5- the moraine serves as a groundwater recharge/discharge for apprximately 65 watercourses 35 of which in the GTA

6-recent changes to land use desingation on the ORM have been overwhelmingly negative

7-the towns of richmond hill and aurora represnet hte greatest degree of encroauchment onto the ORM

Geography True or False?
Hello again Aley :)

1) This is true. That is what is pretty much happening right now. Wells are plotted spatially and then their stratigraphy mapped and connected, Its a way to find out how overburden is distrbuted.

2) False, the Halton Till is mainly clayey silt to silt with interbedded sand and silt, its produces mostly an aquitard.

3) I would have to say this is false. There are several ways to determine the inflow/outflow and hydraulic connectivity of aquifers and takes more than just detailed water balance.

4) RASA started in '78 and ended in '95 so it spanned 17 years. I am not very familiar with the RASA program, but I am familiar with the USGS and in my opinion, it is likely more indepth as Canadian efforts are generally fragmented and inadequate.

5) This is true, about 65 rivers begin in the oak ridges Moraine. Humber, Credit, Don, Holland are all common ones that most people have heard of

6) True AND False. Some developers were upset, alot of home owners were happy.

7) True, you could add King City and Stouffville in there as well.
Reply:Best way to repay me is to pass on the help to others and not let this knowledge go to waste. The ORM is a vital landform in the southern Ontario and many people do not understand it fully. Report Abuse

Reply:That will be done! Thank you, once again! Report Abuse

Reply:Ummm..true, false, false, true, true, false, and true :)
