Massive oil deposit found i U.S....think the Democrats will let us ACTUALLY dig on our own soil?

Massive Oil Deposit Could Increase US reserves by 10x

http://www.nextenergynews.com/news1/next...

America is sitting on top of a super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could potentially make America Energy Independent and until now has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America’s Oil reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies the trump card against OPEC’s short squeeze on oil supply and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted supply irrelevant.

In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951.

The government hasn't seen Americans turning cars over and setting them on fire in the streets yet.

They haven't thought about fearing their own constituents yet.

The liberal, sandal wearing, pot smoking, tree-hugging morons don't know what's coming until it hits them that even they can't afford to be environmentally conscious.

The oil companies are full of it. They create shortages by manipulating refinery capabilities and the government stands hand in glove with them on denying licenses and permits to build any more refineries.

No one wants to drill for oil domestically when its dirt cheap to yank it out of someone else's backyard. Why? Cost of labor domestically plus cost of permits and complying with artificially increased red tape equals drilling afar as opposed to a-near.

Basic bottom line: when the consumers change their habits and make it unprofitable to import oil, they all start worrying.
Reply:Back here in REALITY...

North Dakota and Montana are 2 of the best places in the world to put up wind fields that will actually help to wean America off of foreign oil.

The coal companies oppose any efforts to develop wind power in those states, though, because it would cut into their markets.
Reply:It must have been there for thousands of years so why has it taken the US so long to find it (If in fact it is there at all)
Reply:Why drill and use up our oil. Why not use up the worlds oil first and then drill ours.

The high cost of gas is the only way we will learn to conserve.
Reply:no matter how much is found, the tree huggers will find a way to stop any progres.
Reply:the politicians won't let us drill and we probably have more oil than Saudi Arabia ( if I recall right their biggest field is 55 billion barrels ). the sad truth is I think we already have the technology and can get by without the oil but the gov is making too much money on taxes and they don't have to do a thing. I also heard that they found the biggest oil field in the world in Alaska and are just waiting for $150./barrel to start to drill. if the gov really wanted too we could convert to zero point energy tomorrow and it would be free (well almost).
