Did the Bible say something about springs of the sea and the recesses of the deep?

...which was recently discovered by scientist?

In 1977, scientists discovered hot springs at a depth of 2.5 km, on the Galapagos Rift (spreading ridge) off the coast of Ecuador. This exciting discovery was not really a surprise. Since the early 1970s, scientists had predicted that hot springs (geothermal vents) should be found at the active spreading centers along the mid-oceanic ridges, where magma, at temperatures over 1,000 °C, presumably was being erupted to form new oceanic crust. More exciting, because it was totally unexpected, was the discovery of abundant and unusual sea life -- giant tube worms, huge clams, and mussels -- that thrived around the hot springs ---- (from; Exploring the deep ocean floor: Hot springs and strange creatures. U.S. Dept. of Interior, U.S. Geological survey)

Did the Bible say something about springs of the sea and the recesses of the deep?
Genesis 7:11 - In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.

Psalm 36:6 - Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast.

Isaiah 51:10 - Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

Ezekiel 26:19 - For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;

Ezekiel 31:4 - The waters made him great, the deep set him up on high with her rivers running round about his plants, and sent out her little rivers unto all the trees of the field.

Ezekiel 31:15 - Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the day when he went down to the grave I caused a mourning: I covered the deep for him, and I restrained the floods thereof, and the great waters were stayed: and I caused Lebanon to mourn for him, and all the trees of the field fainted for him.

Amos 7:4 - Thus hath the Lord GOD shewed unto me: and, behold, the Lord GOD called to contend by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and did eat up a part.
Reply:Don't confuse simple observation with divine revelation. You have no idea what the people from historical Middle East were aware of.

Sure, in 1977, scientists found hot springs in the depths of the ocean. That does not mean springs were unknown until 1977. Bad correlation! What WAS unexpected was the abundance of life there, not the presence of a spring.

Compare this coincidence with the scientific errors within the Bible and you'll understand the Bible is a spiritual manual, not a science manual.
Reply:It doesn't really require divine knowledge. From the point of view of a primative culture, the sea would require "springs" to make it so full of water (by the way, the undersea thermal plumes come from VENTS, not springs. These are significantly different. Why didn't God use the correct terminology?)

And the sea is deep? No kidding. I'm sure humans have known that ever since they first entered water that was over their head.
Reply:We know more about space than we do about our own oceans. For man to look out at something as vast as the ocean wouldn't you describe it the same way? It doesn't take any sort of holy literature to surmise the sea has deep recesses, come on now.
Reply:Matthew Murray from 1806-1873 is considered the Father of Oceanography and also noted Psalm 8:8. He set out to find them first. His books are still used.
Reply:You again? Please. I don't quite see how your bible quote implies the existence of deep-see vents.

You'd think that if God knew all this scientific stuff beforehand the first verses of Genesis would make a little more sense. Specifically you'd think he could have gotten the things that were created in the right order. But sorry, he fails miserably in that respect. So I'm not inclined to believe.
Reply:Yes, I've heard about this several times. Funny you should mention the book of Job. There are some references in it that many people find startling. It's a very enigmatic book and considered to be one of the most fascinating books in the Bible.
